With our sailingyacht “Good Hope”, you can enjoy day trips on the IJsselmeer.

The “Good Hope“, a Lagoon 400, is moored in Lelystad. In a day trip it is possible to visit Enkhuizen, Hoorn, Volendam or Urk.

Volendam and Urk are mainly associated with all the stereotypes that exist about the Netherlands: clogs, traditional costumes and wooden houses. It are real old fishing villages where you can  enjoy freshly smoked fish and herring.

ENKHUIZEN

Enkhuizen is almost all year round pleasantly busy. The city is a place to be for sailors. Beautiful old buildings like the 16th century defensive gate Drommedaris, the City Hall, the 15th century Western Church and the Scale House. The old buildings in the city, the cafés and shops contribute to a pleasant atmosphere.

The biggest tourist attraction is undoubtedly the “Zuiderzee Museum”. It consists of a museum in a former warehouse in town, and a large outdoor museum. In this museum village revives the Zuiderzee History: there are 135 homes, workplaces and shops from the period from 1880 to 1932.

HOORN

This town on the IJsselmeer offers a nice combination of old and new: there are monumental facades which tell the impressive history of Hoorn, but there are also modern buildings and facilities. The street pattern in the former VOC town are over the centuries largely intact and many historic buildings are still in top condition. On the quay you will find the statue of the sailors of “Bontekoe”, a former trade vessel. There is plenty to visit: an old lock, fishing boats, cheese warehouses, modern marinas and of course the 17th century Main Tower. You can enjoy delicious food and drinks in the restored buildings, or on the terraces.

VOLENDAM

The village of folk singer Jantje Smit is characteristic, but also a tourist attraction. The magnificent buildings at the harbour are best seen from the water. The old fish market is still a prominent building at the port.

Stroll along the harbour and enjoy the fresh, smoked fish that you can buy at the various fish stalls. Or take a drink on a terrace overlooking the harbour. At the local photographer you can have a snapshot in traditional Volendam costume.

Urk

The former island Urk has many traditions and monuments that recall the past. Living on a former small island and the battle with the sea have made Urk. Museum ‘s Old Town Hall informs about the extraordinary history and traditions.  After the reclamation the Urk fishermen had to be trained as a farmer, but Urk still has a vibrant fishing industry. In the cozy harbour you can get acquainted with various aspects of fishing and related matters. The fish is auctioned in the Urk fish auction and visitors can book for a tour.
